Warranties: what should you be looking out for?
What is a car warranty? What key warranty information should you be looking out for when buying a new vehicle? How long does a car warranty last? At Mantello Hyundai Roxburgh Park, we love answering all of your vehicle-related questions, so we’ve put together this simple guide, so you know what’s what and don’t get caught out.
What is a car warranty?
A car warranty is a guarantee from the manufacturer of your vehicle that they will repair faults that happen during the warranty period. A car warranty will include the cost of both parts and labour and gives you peace of mind that you won’t become unexpectedly out of pocket within the warranty time.
Are there things a car warranty doesn’t cover?
Typically, car warranties don’t cover normal wear and tear fixes such as tyres and brake pads, or damage to the car caused by accidents, misuse, and modifications. Depending on the warranty, sometimes your car battery may not be covered – so it’s always advised to read through all warranty documents before making a purchase.
Do car warranties always have unlimited km?
All-new Hyundai’s come with the Hyundai Warranty, which is designed for you to get the very best out of your owning experience. We’re so confident in the technology and materials that go into all of our vehicles, that each new Hyundai passenger vehicle comes with 5 years unlimited km warranty. The unlimited km ensures that no matter how far you drive – you’ll be covered.
Are the parts covered by warranty, too?
If you need to get your vehicle repaired and a new part is required, make sure that your warranty covers new parts. At Hyundai, our Genuine Parts are covered by a 12-month warranty, and our Genuine Accessories are also covered for five years when purchased at the same time as a new Hyundai and fitted by an authorised Hyundai dealer.
Can I service my car anywhere and still keep the warranty?
To maintain the manufacturer warranty, you can typically get your car serviced anywhere you choose, but the service centre must use Genuine Parts. Some warranties do require servicing to be undertaken at the dealership you purchased the car from – so make sure you read through all documents before buying.
Genuine Parts are tested under extreme conditions to ensure durability, reliability, and quality and are backed by a 12-month, 20,000km warranty. In contrast, imitation parts are cheaper versions of genuine parts and are made to be as inexpensive as possible and may not adhere to Australian Design Rules.
